Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
